Secular? What exactly does that mean?
Secular means having no religious or spiritual basis. When we use secular arguments, we base our ideas on scientific evidence, moral principles, and human rights.
There are a number of reasons why I Stand for Life presents the pro-life message from a secular point of view. Here are a few that we find important:
Abortion is a human rights violation and should be argued as such.
Secular pro-life-ism is a non-divisive approach, creating common ground for varying belief systems. People of all religions, or lack thereof, can relate.
Science is pro-life. We have factual information and statistics to back up our pro-life views and keep our arguments credible.
Secular pro-life-ism counteracts the common assertion of abortion-rights advocates that we are imposing religious beliefs on other people.
Abortion has been legal in the United States for 40 years, and religious objection will not changed the laws. It's time to oppose abortion with scientific facts.
If you don't agree with us, that's okay. You are always welcome to fight alongside us. We are in this battle together!
